Viva Las Vegas!

Douglas and I went for a little "romantic getaway" this last weekend.  We went to Vegas but we're not into gambling so we weren't sure there would be anything for us to do but we were plenty busy!  Our first night there we drove up to see the Hoover Dam, which was totally my hubby's idea because he loves that kind of thing.  It was big and impressive but the water level was really low, which was interesting.  When we were done there we went and drove down the famous "strip" to see the lights and see where everything was.  We walked around a little bit but we were tired so we just went back to the hotel for an evening swim and some sleep.
We got up and going the next morning but my hubby, who is a total sucker for salespeople, signed us up to go to a 2-3 hour timeshare presentation because they were going to give us free tickets to the Lion King show that night.  I tried to warn him but it didn't work.  FIVE hours later we were finally done, I was completely ticked off, but we did have our Lion King tickets, $40 in cash, free lunch, and $50 to spend at Mandalay Bay so I guess it was okay in the end.  There's not much to do in the morning anyway so we didn't miss out on much.  The rest of the time we pretty much just walked around and shopped.
The Lion King show was totally AMAZING!!!  We were going to buy tickets anyways because I really wanted to see it and I'm glad we finally got a chance to see it.  Douglas even liked it and he's not a big musical type of person.  Douglas said one of his favorite things there is the fountain shows in front of the Bellagio hotel.  They are pretty cool to watch.  We had a lot of fun and it was good to get a break from the kids and just focus on us for a few days.  That's the longest we have ever left them, which is kind of sad, but at least we did it!  Next time I think we'll go on a cruise though...
By the way, we forgot to take our camera (I know, we're idiots) so we took a few pics with my phone but they're not the greatest quality.

Recovering from surgery

Emily was so brave last Friday when she had her tonsils removed.  I know she was very nervous but she did a great job.  The doctor gave her a princess crown to wear home, which made her very happy!  She is my little princess!  She was so loopy coming out of surgery she had everyone laughing hysterically.  She did great the first day but that night it finally hit her and she was up crying most of the night wanting me to hold her.  She was pretty much flat on her back the next day but she is getting better really fast now!  She is talking, eating, playing, and I have to keep reminding her that she isn't allowed to run around or jump.  She's quite a little trooper!

Christmas 2010

We had a WONDERFUL Christmas this year!  I think we may have spoiled the kids a little bit but oh well!  They had a blast opening their presents.  The lego table turned out great and was a huge hit!  Douglas managed to give me a huge surprise this year!  I knew he was up to something but I wasn't sure what until Christmas morning.
About a week before Christmas I was getting ready for the day and went to grab my wedding ring out of my jewelry box but it wasn't there.  I was FREAKING OUT!  I already lost a wedding ring once and I didn't want to have to replace it again.  I was in a total panic looking everywhere for it!  It didn't make sense because I knew I put it away the night before.  I called Douglas and he was surprisingly relaxed about it and told me not to worry and he was sure it would turn up soon.  Then I realized he seemed a little too relaxed about it.  He tried to make up some story about how his shirt hit my jewelry box when he was getting dressed and he was sure that it must have knocked my wedding ring out onto the floor and it must have bounced under the dresser.  Then he told me that the dresser is much too heavy for me to move by myself (which I have done a number of times) and he ordered me not to move it until he was home and could do it for me.  Then I realized that none of it made sense and he had to be up to something!
Every night when he was home I would ask him to move the dresser and he would tell me he would do it in just a minute but then never get around to it.  If my ring was really missing like it was 7 years ago he would have been more than ready to help me move anything and everything to find it.  Then he started to feel bad after a few days so he called me when I wasn't home and said he stopped by the house for a minute and found my ring and took it straight to the jewelry store to get cleaned but they said it needed to be replated so I wasn't going to get it back for a few days.  Well it did get replated but he also had them attach a brand new gorgeous wedding band too!!!!!  I had no idea that was coming!  We couldn't afford a nice wedding band when we had to replace my ring years ago so he decided it was time to get a one.  Isn't it pretty???

Here are some other Christmas pics.  We hope you all had a wonderful holiday season!  Bring on the new year!!!
